Hello everyone! My name is Ana Mónica Pereira, I’m 22 years old and originally from Portugal. I came as a EU student to Brunel in 2020, to pursue my Marketing bachelors when Covid was incredibly present in our life.

Towards my student life, I started getting more engaged with my Student Union, and students well-being, after realizing the amount of things that were missing for them. I am currently the EU students officer of the Union, Student Rep of my course, Chair of Volleyball Club and Chair of Portuguese Society. I have also started to work closely with the Brunel Volunteers team, having the great pleasure of winning the Silver Award (achieving 50h of volunteering) last year, and winning the Gold award in the Brunel+ scheme.

Making sure students are aware and informed of all the opportunities they have, all the resources available and all the fun activities on campus daily has become a passion of mine. I try to be as involved as possible with societies, not only Portuguese but also other cultures and traditions. I am the most grateful for having so many friendships with students from all over the world, from all different cultures and different perspectives of life.

Last year, I was nominated for outstanding individual contribution award for my work as Chair of Portuguese Society, and I won Club Colours for my work as Vice-Chair of Volleyball Club. This was a very special moment for me, all the work I have accomplished, was never for awards or recognition but to make sure everyone had all the opportunities and student life experience that they deserve. As my actual job, I am one of the Supervisors in Locos, and I work in the Union Reception, positions that allow me to get in touch with so many students and help them as much as I can.

It’s been an incredibly journey in Brunel, and I’m the most thankful for all the opportunities and experiences that I had, and I’m extremely excited to meet you all and work even harder this year to deliver better things for students at Brunel!!
