John-Paul graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Arabic with Management, during which he developed a passion for the third sector and education, including voluntary roles for Amnesty International (AIUK) and City Year UK, as well as more corporate experience working in PR and Comms. John-Paul is the Head of Business Development at Advent Advocacy, and has been supporting the drive behind new innovative projects such as UniAdvocates, which aim to shape the way Independent Advocacy is viewed and delivered in new settings outside health and social care.

 

Outside work, John-Paul likes playing music and sharing in and promoting mindfulness-based practices. Currently he is working on a project to raise awareness about the vast uses and benefits of mindfulness. He has also recently taken time out to train as a teacher in order to broaden his skills base, which has added value to his role in promoting and growing mental health advocacy within the education sector.
