From a university podcast to a creative social impact platform, Pick Up The Mic has come a long way. When we first launched, our goal was simple: amplify young voices through conversations that matter. Over the past four years, that goal has expanded into a movement - one that uses podcasts, events, and workshops to empower the next generation of leaders, creators, and changemakers.

The Big 4 celebration marked an incredible milestone for us. It was a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and to share exciting new projects that are shaping our future.

The Problem We're Tackling

Today’s young graduates face a storm of challenges: mental health struggles, financial pressures, career uncertainties - all while navigating spaces that often lack representation. While support exists, it’s often underused due to stigma, inaccessible formats, or the absence of relatable voices.

That’s where Pick Up The Mic steps in.

Our Solution

We create relatable, accessible content and spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and supported. Through podcasts, workshops, live panels, and community building, we aim to dismantle stigma, amplify diverse voices, and foster genuine growth.

What We’ve Achieved Since 2021

We’re proud to say that over the past four years, we’ve:

• Partnered with organisations like Brunel University Of London, Roundhouse, and Somerset House to offer professional development opportunities.

• Collaborated with 40+ organisations, producing over 400 episodes and videos filled with practical advice, real-life stories, and inspiring insights.

• Been nominated for and won awards, including Big Issue Changemakers 2025, MBCC Awards, and Black Tech Achievement Awards.

None of this would have been possible without our vibrant, passionate community (that's you!)

Where We’re Headed Next

We’re not slowing down - in fact, we’re just getting started. Here’s what’s next for Pick Up The Mic:

Fund & Flourish Lab is our boldest initiative yet - a "third space" beyond school or work where creativity, experimentation, and fearless learning take centre stage.
